East Cork Choral Society perform Choral Masterpieces from the 16th and 17th Century
On Saturday 25th November at 8p.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, Lower Glanmire Road, East Cork Choral Society’s programme includes Bach’s finest works on Advent themes.
His Magnificat combines colourful orchestration and lively choruses with lovely solo movements. The Cantate, ‘Wachet Auf’ (Sleeper’s Wake) is built around the familiar hymn tune, treated with Bach’s inimitable skill, with beautiful duet movements in between verses.
Finally, Charpentier’s Te Deum, famous for its opening trumpet tune, will be aired in full, a lively work with ever changing textures of orchestra and choir.
With an array of some of Cork’s most promising soloists, including our own Peter Stobart, stunning orchestral players led by Eithne Willis and Colin Nicholls conducting, you are guarenteed an uplifting and unforgetable musical experience.
Tickets are €20 and will be available in Pro Musica, Oliver Plunkett Street, St. Patrick’s Church vestry, society members and at the door. More details from eastcorkchoralsociety.com or phone 087 4191614.
